Friendly: DR Congo and Uganda play out a 1-1 draw
It is all over at Johannesburg's FNB Stadium. DR Congo and Uganda played out a 1-1 draw in a friendly on Monday. The Leopards, beaten 2-0 in the first leg, saved face in this two-match series.
An intense game unlocked in the second half
For this September-October window, Sébastien Desabre fielded a second-string side that nevertheless included Chancel Mbemba, Noah Sadiki and Nathanaël Mbuku. It was the latter who broke the deadlock for the Leopards in the 64th minute. Just as DR Congo appeared to be heading for victory, Uganda equalised in the 90th minute with a long-range effort from James Bogere.
A very intense September-October window for both teams
This result is part of a mixed run. After beating Equatorial Guinea 2-0 and Mozambique 2-1 in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, DR Congo had lost 0-2 to Uganda before this 1-1 draw.
The Cranes, meanwhile, had drawn 1-1 with Tunisia and beaten Libya 1-0 before their 2-0 first-leg victory.
