After a 0-1 defeat in the first friendly match against Ghana, Senegal's Lionesses took their revenge by winning 1-0 in the second encounter on Tuesday, April 8, at the Lat Dior stadium.

As part of the women's international football break, the national teams of Senegal and Ghana played two friendly matches on April 5 and 8 at the Lat Dior stadium. These matches also served as a springboard for both teams' preparations for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

An encouraging preparation for the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

After a series of defeats against Ghana's Black Queens (August 2024, April 5, 2025), the Senegal women's national team found their way back to victory. The first half of the return friendly match ended goalless, despite some dangerous attempts from both sides. It was finally in the dying seconds of this duel, precisely in the 89th minute, that the Lionesses of Teranga broke through. With an unstoppable strike, Hapsatou Diallo scored the only goal of the match, securing victory for the Senegalese.

Buoyed by the results of this double friendly confrontation, both teams can now continue to refine their strategies for better performances at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held from July 5 to 26, 2024, in Morocco.
