As happened in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, the Atlas Lions and the Mali Eagles drew. On the pitch at the Grand Stadium in Tangier, the two national teams shared the points after a fine match in which neither side sat back, with the game ending 1-1.

Ezzalzouli opens the scoring for Morocco

At the end of the first half, the Atlas Lions were ahead. Morocco opened the scoring in the 35th minute through a penalty converted by Abdessamad Ezzalzouli. The Real Betis forward had beaten Mamadou Samassa to give the advantage to Mohamed Ouahbi's men, who had recorded two wins during the September–October international break against Gabon (2-0) and Lesotho (2-0) in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Diarra responds for Mali

As for Mali, who are also enjoying a strong run after wins over Cape Verde (3-1) and Liberia (1-0), they had to wait until the 77th minute to respond. Following a set piece, Gaoussou Diarra, the Feyenoord forward, equalised and scored his second goal for the national team.

As a result, Anthony da Silva's men secured a deserved draw and ended Morocco's run, which had been heading towards a third win in three matches during the September and October international break.
