Friendly: Russia thrash Namibia 6-0
Russia are continuing their winning run. Facing Namibia in Yekaterinburg on Saturday, Valeri Karpin's side made light work of their opponents, cruising to a 6-0 victory.
Sadulaev opens the scoring
A few days after their win over Iran (2-0), the Russians played another friendly. Facing a Namibian side ranked 121st in the world, they quickly took control. However, Russia's dominance took some time to be reflected on the scoreboard.
They had to wait until the end of the first half for Lechi Sadulaev to find the net and allow his team to go into the break with a one-goal lead. Karpin used the interval to change his team. His substitutions quickly energised the Russian side.
Russia run riot in the second half
Daniil Prutsev and then Konstantin Tioukavine scored in quick succession after the restart to give Russia a three-goal lead. From the 84th minute onwards, the Russians added three more goals. Maksim Glouchenkov first joined in the scoring spree, before Maksim Petrov converted a penalty.
Namibia eventually compounded their own misery with an own goal from Kamaijanda Ndisiro, taking the final score to 6-0. Since their defeat by Egypt in May, Russia have won four consecutive matches against Burkina Faso, Trinidad and Tobago, Iran and Namibia. Still excluded from competitions organised by FIFA and UEFA, Russia continue their activities through friendly matches. One final fixture is also scheduled for Tuesday against Nigeria.
