Friendly: Senegal edge past Comoros at the Vélodrome
Senegal keep rolling. At Marseille’s Vélodrome stadium, the Lions of Teranga beat Comoros 1-0 in an international friendly, thanks to an early goal from Iliman Ndiaye in the 5th minute.
Iliman Ndiaye makes a winning return
On his return to the national team, the Manchester City striker did not miss his opportunity. Suspended for the first two rounds of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following the events of the 2025 AFCON final against Morocco, he scored the only goal of the match and secured victory for his side. This narrow win comes after a sluggish start to qualifying, with a 1-1 draw against Mozambique and a 1-0 victory over Ethiopia.
Vieira is still finding his feet
This was Patrick Vieira’s third match in charge of the Lions of Teranga. The French coach is still searching for his system and developing his understanding with a squad that is still finding its rhythm, but the essential thing was secured with this victory at the Vélodrome.
