Former Algerian international Adlène Guedioura is embarking on a new phase of his career as he becomes the new sporting director of CR Belouizdad.

According to information reported by the Algerian daily Elkhabar, the former Greens midfielder was officially appointed to the position as of today.

A major asset for the Chabab administration

The Algiers-based club has turned to its former player to strengthen its administrative structure and tap into the wealth of experience he has gained throughout his career in Europe as well as with the national team.

At 39 years old, Guedioura has already been involved in various aspects of football, whether it be management, training, or technical coaching. His last stint as a player was last season with CR Belouizdad, a chapter cut short after his contract was terminated.

Nicknamed "The Tank" by Algerian fans, Guedioura has racked up 444 appearances across all competitions with his clubs and the national team, scoring 30 goals and providing 33 assists.

He was also one of the pillars of the squad led by Djamel Belmadi, which clinched the Africa Cup of Nations title at CAN 2019 in Egypt.
