Galatasaray position themselves for Viktor Gyökeres

Viktor Gyökeres could already be considering a move away from Arsenal. After a convincing first season statistically, the Swedish striker has had less playing time since the start of the campaign. This situation is believed to have attracted the attention of several clubs, including Galatasaray.

Galatasaray enter the race

According to Fotomaç, Galatasaray are closely monitoring the situation of Viktor Gyökeres and want to position themselves ahead of the next transfer window. The Turkish club are believed to have stepped up their search for attacking reinforcements and have reportedly made the Sweden international one of their priorities. According to these reports, Gyökeres is also said to be unhappy with his current situation at Arsenal.

Galatasaray will nevertheless face significant competition, as Milan and Juventus are also reportedly interested in the 28-year-old striker ahead of the winter transfer window. Saudi clubs, notably Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad, are also said to be monitoring the situation.

Reduced playing time at Arsenal

Having joined Arsenal from Sporting CP, Viktor Gyökeres scored 21 goals and provided three assists in 55 appearances in all competitions during his first season. The Swede has nevertheless endured a more difficult start to the campaign. He has started just three of the first five Premier League matches and has had to settle for two substitute appearances.

This situation could therefore lead him to consider his future, even though his contract with Arsenal runs until 2030. Galatasaray will nevertheless have to convince Arsenal to let their striker leave if they are to sign Gyökeres. The London club paid €66 million to sign him from Sporting CP, with a further €10 million potentially payable in bonuses.
