Ghana: Asamoah Gyan returns to the Black Stars in a new role

The former captain has been appointed Clubs and Player Relations Manager by the federation. A new mission for Asamoah Gyan. In a statement published on its website, the Ghana Football Association announced the new responsibilities entrusted to the former Black Stars

A bridging role

The GFA outlined the scope of this new position. As Clubs and Player Relations Manager, Gyan will play a key liaison role between the technical team led by Carlos Queiroz, the players and the clubs. The man with 107 caps and 51 goals will facilitate communication regarding call-ups and the players' well-being, and provide mentorship and support to the players.

Experience at the service of the squad

The governing body is relying above all on the former captain's experience to support the new generation. Aged 40, his experience, leadership and close ties with the current generation of players should prove to be a major asset for the team. Ghana is organising itself to begin qualifying for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
