Ghana: Barcelona star considers representing the Black Stars in the future!

Belgian international Jesse Bisiwu joined Barcelona from Club Brugge; so far, he has not made an official appearance for the first team and appears to be awaiting a genuine opportunity from Hansi Flick.

Back in January, Barcelona made an attempt to bring Bisiwu on board. Club Brugge, however, stood firm and turned them away. That rejection didn't discourage the Catalan giants one bit — they simply bided their time. By July, their persistence paid off, and the youngster finally made the move. He even got a taste of first-team action during pre-season, though these days he's turning out for Barca Atletic. For the 18-year-old, this step down is no cause for concern — as he explained to RTL Sports in a recent interview, he's perfectly at ease with how things are unfolding.

When asked about his future ambitions, the Belgian-Ghanaian player replied that he is very happy to be at Barcelona and to represent such a major European club, and that he currently aspires to become one of the team's key players.

“The plan is a five-year plan. I think the club can help me develop. That’s why I came to Barcelona. The first time I heard that Barça came to see me I was very happy. It’s a dream club. I think Barça is not for everyone. Everyone has welcomed me very well, even the captains of the first team.

Belgium has been the only international shirt Bisiwu has worn so far, guiding him through the formative years of his career. At this very moment, he's donning their under-21 colours during the current international break. But Belgium isn't the only country keeping tabs on him — Ghana remains a possibility too. Reports suggest the Ghanaian Football Association has been trying to lure him toward the Black Stars, though their pursuit has yet to bear fruit. The door, however, isn't fully closed. The player himself has hinted that a change of heart isn't out of the question.

"In the future you never know, but right now the focus is on the u21s and winning games."

All eyes will be on what comes next. Can Bisiwu carve out a place in Barcelona's first team during the 2026-27 season? The competition on the wings is fierce, but should he continue catching the eye with Barca Atletic, his moment will undoubtedly arrive.
