Gilberto Mora: Tijuana sets price for prized youngster
Club Tijuana intends to demand a significant fee for a potential departure of Gilberto Mora. According to Football Insider, the Mexican club would reportedly demand at least £30 million for its 17-year-old attacking midfielder. The demands could rise to as much as £40 million, with additional clauses designed to guarantee future income for Tijuana.
A rise that is attracting Europe
Gilberto Mora has made a name for himself through his performances for Club Tijuana. This season, the young player has scored five goals and provided one assist in seven league appearances. His performances have also opened the doors to the Mexican national team. He already has 13 international appearances, with one goal to his name, despite his young age.
Several major European clubs have been linked with the player, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. The reported interest from these clubs could strengthen Tijuana’s position in negotiations. The club would not only like to secure a high transfer fee, but also include clauses allowing it to receive additional sums in the future.
Tijuana is in control of the situation
Gilberto Mora’s contract runs until the summer of 2029. The Mexican club therefore has room to negotiate and is not under pressure to part ways quickly with its young talent. Since making his first-team debut, the attacking midfielder has recorded 15 goals and three assists in 62 official matches.
With a price that could reach £40 million, the Mora deal could become one of the significant transfers involving a young Mexican player. It remains to be seen, however, whether a European suitor will be willing to meet Club Tijuana’s financial demands.
