Golden Arrows aggressively enter race to sign in-demand Johan Fabisch

Foot Africa has been led to believe that Betway Premiership club Golden Arrows have aggressively entered the race to sign highly sought-after midfielder Johan Fabisch on a free transfer.

The 24-year-old utility player is currently unattached after parting ways with German 3.Liga outfit FC Erzgebirge Aue at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, establishing himself as a perfect market opportunity for suitors.

He caught the eye during the 2025 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, dictating the tempo of the game in the heart of the Zimbabwean midfield against Egypt, Angola, and South Africa, against whom he laid an assist in a 3-2 defeat.

Notably, the player opted to represent Zimbabwe at international level owing to his maternal ties, despite being born in Kenya and eligible to represent Germany, where he cut his professional teeth.

Now, Fabisch has emerged as a strong target in the Betway Premiership and from teams abroad, with sources indicating that Arrows have now thrown their hat in the ring at the eleventh hour.

Abafana Bes'thende are looking to fill the void left by Ivorian teenage sensation Isaac Cisse, who is reportedly set to complete a move to Belgian Pro League side Royal Charleroi after a standout debut season in the PSL.

However, this publication understands that Kaizer Chiefs firmly remain in the race for Fabisch, with the player having touched down in South Africa on Wednesday as reported by FARPost.

While the Soweto giants look to pounce on the free agent, no deal has been concluded at this stage, allowing Arrows to swiftly join the highly-contested race for the player's signature.

Whether the in-demand midfielder will be based in Gauteng or KwaZulu Natal next season remains to be seen, amid brewing interest from teams across and beyond the continent.
