Liverpool have taken a major step towards securing the long-term future of their Hungarian star, Dominik Szoboszlai, after reaching a preliminary agreement with the midfielder over a new long-term contract.

According to reliable English journalist Ben Jacobs, both parties have agreed on all the key terms of the new deal with only the official signing remaining.

The Hungary captain is now on the verge of extending his stay at Anfield, having made it clear from the outset of negotiations that he wanted to continue his journey with the Reds. Szoboszlai joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023.

Despite Liverpool's inconsistent performances last season, the 25-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign. His versatility allowed him to excel in several positions, including attacking midfield and on the wing, finishing the season with 13 goals and 12 assists across all competitions.

Szoboszlai will also be available from the very start of Liverpool's pre-season preparations under new head coach Andoni Iraola, following Hungary's failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
