Guardiola will be at the Etihad Stadium for Man City's next match!
Pep Guardiola is set to make a surprising comeback to the Etihad, with plans to be in the stands for Manchester City's next home fixture.
Pep Guardiola wants to bolster Man City from the Etihad
The Daily Mirror reports that the former boss is eager to show his backing for the club in person after an independent commission delivered its verdict in the case concerning alleged breaches of the Premier League's financial regulations.
The expectation is that Guardiola will be at the stadium on October 14, when City take on Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. According to the publication, the Spaniard has made it known to the club's hierarchy that he simply wants to "be with his people."
Severe sanctions against Man City
To recap, on September 29 an independent commission ruled against Manchester City on every charge linked to breaches of financial rules stretching from 2009 to 2018. The club has rejected those findings outright and formally filed an appeal on October 2.
Guardiola, who walked away from Manchester City once last season wrapped up, had already made his feelings clear in public. "I have always supported, support and will continue to support my club," the Catalan insisted.
Across a decade at the helm in Manchester, Guardiola collected 20 trophies. Now he may well be heading back to the Etihad to stand behind the team as it navigates a testing spell.
