Historic qualification for Benin in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup

It's a historic first. The Benin U-20 women's national team will compete in the final stage of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup Poland 2026. The U-20 Amazons booked their spot on Sunday after a commanding 4-1 victory over Côte d'Ivoire.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Abidjan, the Beninese side showed no nerves in the return fixture. On the pitch of Stade de Kégué in Lomé, the U-20 Amazons dominated the Ivorians with an emphatic 4-1 win, sealing a historic qualification. The final aggregate score stood at 5-2 in favor of Benin.

For the first time in their history, the U-20 Amazons will compete in the World Cup for this age group.
