Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah (34) was greeted with a phenomenal reception upon his arrival in Turkey, where he is set to finalise his transfer to Trabzonspor during the summer transfer window. This move is shaping up to be one of the most memorable of this transfer window.

A hero's welcome fit for a legend

Hundreds of Trabzonspor supporters, joined by a swarm of journalists and photographers, packed the area outside Istanbul's Atatürk Airport to give the Egyptian international an epic welcome.

Trabzonspor managed to win the race for Mohamed Salah's signature despite fierce competition from their Turkish rivals Beşiktaş, who had also entered negotiations with the player in recent weeks.

According to Turkish broadcaster HT Spor, Salah will undergo the obligatory medical check-up upon arrival before officially signing his contract at the Trabzonspor president’s office.

The same source reports that the Egyptian forward will travel on to Trabzon later in the evening. A major unveiling ceremony in front of the fans is scheduled for Thursday at Papara Park, the club’s stadium.

Mohamed Salah began his European journey with FC Basel in 2012. He then played for Chelsea, Fiorentina, and AS Roma before joining Liverpool in 2017. With the Reds, he lifted a host of prestigious trophies, including the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
