Ibrahima Niane, a delicate end of an era at Angers

The chapter closes for Ibrahima Niane at SCO Angers. With his contract set to expire in June 2025, the Senegalese striker will not continue his journey with the Angers club. The decision, long anticipated, was made official this Wednesday by the club’s management, which announced a wave of departures.

At 26, Ibrahima Niane is coming off a mixed season. In 24 Ligue 1 appearances, he netted just 3 goals and provided a single assist. These stats fall short of expectations for a player with his athletic profile (1.87m), who was for a long time seen as a potential offensive leader.

But beyond his on-field performance, a new shadow has darkened his future: a two-year suspension handed down by the French Anti-Doping Agency, effective from March 31, 2025. It’s a major blow to his career, just as he was hoping to bounce back with a new project.
