Injured with Algeria, ES Tunis provides an update on Youcef Belaïli
The blow has been confirmed for Espérance Sportive de Tunis: Youcef Belaïli picked up an injury during Algeria’s recent match against Somalia. The Tunisian club announced that their Algerian international is suffering from a muscle injury, diagnosed after thorough medical examinations. The 33-year-old winger will be forced to rest for a period before undergoing further tests to determine exactly when he can return to training.
Meanwhile, EST’s sporting director Yazid Mansouri spoke about the future of the former Al-Ahli player.
“We are currently trying to reach an agreement with Belaïli to extend his contract in the coming days,” he revealed,
while adding that other players are also involved in extension talks.
Having arrived in the summer of 2024, Belaïli is under contract with Espérance until June 2026, but club officials are eager to secure his long-term future, convinced of his crucial role in their sporting project. For now, the priority remains his full recovery, as the Algerian international was one of the main architects of the Greens’ qualification for the 2026 World Cup. His absence will be a major blow for the club in the coming weeks.
