Inter Milan: Henrikh Mkhitaryan considers retirement this summer
On the eve of Inter Milan's second-leg match against Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, Henrikh Mkhitaryan surprised many by publicly discussing the possibility of hanging up his boots this summer. This revelation came during a pre-match press conference on Tuesday, April 15.
"A tough match awaits us against a very strong team. We have a great opportunity, we will do everything to progress, and we'll see if we reach the final. We are calm and mature, we have the necessary experience," he initially stated about the clash against the Bundesliga leaders.
The 36-year-old Armenian international and Inter Milan stalwart then spoke about his future, leaving room for speculation.
"This is one of the most difficult seasons I've ever experienced. By mid-April, we're still competing on three fronts. It's nice to play every 3-4 days for all objectives. I'm happy to have reached this level, because maybe it won't happen again in my career. Maybe I'll stop at the end of this season, or maybe I'll play for another year or two. I'll think about it..." Henrikh Mkhitaryan stated.
Since joining Inter in 2022 from AS Roma, Mkhitaryan has played 136 matches for Inter Milan to date, across all competitions, with 8 goals and 16 assists. He won the Italian Championship in 2024, the Italian Super Cup in 2022 and 2023, the Italian Cup in 2023, and reached the Champions League final in 2023.
