Issa Doumbia joins Sporting

Sporting CP has officially announced the arrival of Issa Doumbia from Venezia FC. The 22-year-old midfielder, originally from Ivory Coast, becomes the Lisbon side's third signing ahead of the upcoming season.

To convince the Italian club, Sporting shelled out €20.53 million, with an additional €6.32 million in potential bonuses. Venezia has also secured a 10% sell-on clause for any future transfer of the player. This transfer marks a record sale for the Italian side—Venezia has never received such a high fee for one of their players before.

Born in Italy but also eligible to represent Ivory Coast, Issa Doumbia is coming off a stellar season with Venezia. He played a key role in the club's promotion to Serie A, netting 10 goals and providing 6 assists in 38 matches. Following the arrivals of Rodrigo Zalazar and Pedro Lima, Sporting CP continues to strengthen its squad with a player regarded as one of the brightest prospects in Italian football.
