Back on Italy’s bench, Roberto Mancini endured a difficult evening at the Stadio Olimpico as his side lost to Belgium (0-2). The match took place on Friday in the Nations League.

Despite the defeat, the Italy coach is not worried. He believes his team could have secured a better result by showing a little more realism.

"A performance below expectations? No. Belgium played better than us in the first half, but not in the second. The team did very well until the counter-attacking goal that made it 2-0, which came from a mistake by my team. Before that, we had four or five chances to get back to 1-1, so we put them under pressure. Were the boos deserved? When you lose, you have to expect them, but not everything was negative. It will be even better when we reach the summit of Everest; the finish will be even more beautiful," explained the former Manchester City coach.

The next opponents for the Azzurri are Turkey (September 28 and October 5) and France (October 2).
