Ivory Coast: Yacine Idriss Diallo re-elected as FIF president for four years

Unsurprisingly, as the sole candidate in the running, Yacine Idriss Diallo has been re-elected for a further four-year term as head of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF).

Following the vote on 12 September in Yamoussoukro, Yacine Idriss Diallo received 123 votes, representing 74 per cent of the votes cast.

A first term marked by the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations

First elected in 2022, Yacine Idriss Diallo leaves behind a solid track record. During his term, Côte d’Ivoire hosted and won the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which was played in 2024. It was a historic victory on home soil. The Elephants also qualified for the World Cup and progressed beyond the group stages for the first time in their history.

Significant increase in grants for clubs and women’s football

For this second term, the FIF president has announced the continuation of the financial support policy. Over the 2022–2026 cycle, the subsidy for Ligue 1 has risen from 75 to 100 million CFA francs. That for Ligue 2 has risen from 30 to 50 million, whilst Division 3 has seen its funding increase from 15 to 30 million CFA francs. Women’s football has also benefited from this trend. The grant has risen from 2.5 to 10 million CFA francs.

With these increased resources, the FIF, under Idriss Diallo, aims to continue developing Ivorian football at all levels.
