The resurgence of Gaya Merbah with JS Kabylie is now undeniable. Named Player of the Month for February by the Professional Football League, the Kabyle goalkeeper is reaping the rewards of a remarkable comeback after a long layoff caused by a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for the entire previous season.

Gradually returning to his best form, the 31-year-old shot-stopper has shone in recent Ligue 1 Mobilis matchdays, notably during the Clasico against MC Alger, where his decisive saves allowed the Canaries to secure a hard-fought draw.

His performances have not gone unnoticed. Merbah is now reportedly included in the extended Algeria national team squad for the upcoming training camp, a clear sign that his return to the top is drawing attention once again.
