Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has provided an injury update ahead of their clash against fierce rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The Soweto juggernauts head into the fixture looking to bounce back from their respective defeats in the Betway Premiership, making the tie even more tense.

Chiefs sit fourth with 30 points accumulated from 16 league outings, while Pirates are in second place with 38 points amassed from 17 games.

With the highly-anticipated match looming, the Burundian tactician has shared the latest update on the fitness of the Chiefs camp.

“It's true that Miguel [Inacio] has missed a few games following his injury in the Nedbank Cup game against Stellenbosch. He's had two light training sessions with the group, he will be assessed today [Thursday] to see if he's able to feature,” Kaze said.

"For Ox [Mthethwa], he has been training with the team for the last five sessions. He's not 100% fit, he can help but not 100% fit. I would say that [Etiosa] Ighodaro is definitely out, he hasn't joined the group yet.

"Thabo Cele is back from his injury and he can help, as well as Bradley Cross. George Matlou is out too.

Notably, Pirates have completed back-to-back league doubles over Chiefs in the past two seasons, with Amakhosi's last triumph in the league dating back to February 2023.
