Kaizer Chiefs flop nets brace in China

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Jasond Gonzalez scored a brace as Nantong Zhiyun FC dispatched Shaanxi Union 4-1 in the Chinese League One.

The 27-year-old centre-forward got his first goal of the game in the 28th minute, making it 2-0 after the opening goal from Lucas Kal in the eighth minute.

He completed his brace in first-half stoppage time, converting from the spot, which ensured his team head into the break with a 3-1 lead.

His exploits helped Nantong Zhiyun move up to fifth place, having accumulated 35 points in 19 league outings, as they look to gain promotion to the topflight.

Notably, Gonzalez has scored seven goals with one assist in seven league games since joining the Chinese second-tier outfit in July 2026.

The well-travelled marksman is no stranger to Chinese football, having spent the second round of last season on loan with Shijiazhuang Gongfu.

Gonzalez will be looking to maintain his red-hot goal scoring form when his team visits Dalian K'un City in their next league outing on Sunday, 30 August.

Contrary to his form in China, the Colombian striker failed to find the back of the net in 13 matches across all competitions during his time at Chiefs.
