Two key Kaizer Chiefs players injured

The latest blow came during the club's goalless draw against Golden Arrows, when new signing Lebohang Maboe was unable to continue and had to be withdrawn in the second half.

Just how serious the problem is remains unknown, but the setback has hit both the club and the player hard — Maboe has since withdrawn from the latest Bafana Bafana squad that was set to face Guinea and Eritrea. The 32-year-old playmaker had been in fine form, contributing two goals and two assists across seven Betway Premiership appearances this term.

His absence comes at an awkward moment for Chiefs, who have now been held to draws in four of their seven league fixtures and have dropped points in four of their last five outings. As if that were not enough, the club is also set to be without 22-year-old striker Wandile Duba for several weeks.

Duba's record speaks for itself — three goals in only four appearances — a return that highlights just how much the team relies on him in front of goal.
