Kalidou Koulibaly, heading toward the end of his cycle at Al-Hilal?

Kalidou Koulibaly will not be joining Neom Sports Club. The Saudi club, once interested in the Senegalese international, has ended negotiations according to our sources. This is a setback for Al-Hilal, who had hoped to find a buyer for their 33-year-old defender.

Since his arrival in July 2023, Kalidou Koulibaly has been a regular starter. He featured in 37 matches this season across the Saudi Pro League and the Asian Champions League. But despite his experience and defensive prowess, the club is enduring a trophyless campaign. This underachievement is prompting the management to reconsider the squad's makeup.

The dismissal of coach Jorge Jesus marks a turning point. Al-Hilal is looking to start a new chapter. Kalidou Koulibaly, under contract until 2026, could be among the targeted departures. However, his hefty salary and age are holding back some potential suitors. The upcoming Club World Cup, scheduled for June 2025 in the United States, might be the final milestone before a decision is made. Until then, the future of the former Napoli star remains uncertain.
