Kalidou Koulibaly speaks out on his future with Senegal

Kalidou Koulibaly addressed his future with the Lions of Teranga during an interview with his club teammate, Mohammed Al Owais, broadcast on the official X account of Al-Hilal.

It was a relaxed moment between the two teammates, chatting about various topics, including the fact that the Senegalese defender is a true watch collector, his favorite pastimes outside football, and his life in Saudi Arabia.

The 34-year-old defender also took the opportunity to drop some hints about his international future, especially the possibility of playing in another World Cup with Senegal.

"You and I, we're closer to the end of our careers than the beginning. You still have a bit more time, until the next World Cup. That's not the case for me. Four years is a long time, and there are young players coming through," said the former Napoli man, confident in the next generation.

In four years, the ex-Chelsea defender will be 38, and he doesn't see himself playing at the 2030 World Cup scheduled in Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. Perhaps the 2027 AFCON in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will be the final chapter of his storied career.

The Saint-Dié-des-Vosges native has earned 105 caps for Senegal (scoring 2 goals). He played two matches at the last World Cup, during which Pape Thiaw’s men were knocked out by Belgium in the round of 16 (3-2 after extra time).
