Kane makes history with Bayern Munich, joining a select group of three names in the club's history!
Harry Kane stands on the verge of accomplishing something that no Bayern Munich player has done in almost fifty years.
The Englishman makes history with Bayern Munich
The English forward is firmly in the conversation for the 2026 Ballon d'Or, and should he claim it, he would etch his name into the German giants' history books. Such a triumph would make him the first Bayern player to lift the prestigious individual honour in 45 years. The last man to do so while donning the Bavarian colours was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, back in 1981.
What makes this all the more striking is that across Bayern Munich's entire existence, only three footballers have ever won the Ballon d'Or while representing the club — and all three were legendary German figures:
- Gerd Müller — 1970
- Franz Beckenbauer — 1972 and 1976
- Karl-Heinz Rummenigge — 1980 and 1981

Rummenigge remains the most recent Bayern player to have received the award, having claimed it in two back-to-back years. Since then, despite all the club's staggering success and the parade of world-class talent that has passed through its ranks, no Bayern footballer has been able to replicate that feat. Kane now has the chance to bring that remarkable drought to an end and take his place among the exclusive circle of Munich legends.
