Knox Mutizwa closing in on new club

Foot Africa understands that striker Knox Mutizwa is subject to a tug of war between Zimbabwe Castle Premier Soccer League (PSL) teams Triangle United and FC Hunters.

The 32-year-old is currently unattached after parting ways with Betway Premiership side Richards Bay in March, presenting a perfect market opportunity for interested suitors.

He had joined the Natal Rich Boyz on a free transfer in October 2025, but the KwaZulu-Natal outfit opted to severe ties, owing to alleged misconduct off the field.

Mutizwa still had three months remaining in his Richards Bay deal, having joined the club from Golden Arrows, where he was also reportedly released for ill-discipline.

The highly-rated Zimbabwe international made 17 appearances during his ill-fated and brief spell at the Jomo Biyela-owned team in the 2025/26 campaign.

Meanwhile, he featured in 231 matches for Abafana Bes'thende, chipping in with 63 goals and 23 assists, which saw him become the club's all-time top goal scorer.

Now, sources have informed this publication that Mutizwa has attracted strong interest in the Zimbabwean topflight, with the player understood to have already touched down.

Notably, he was on the verge of signing for Triangle United before the deal hit a snag, allowing Hunters FC to emerge as frontrunners for his highly sought-after signature.

However, the two teams are said to be facing long-standing competition from South African teams in the Betway Premiership and the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Whether Mutizwa will ply his trade in his native Zimbabwe remains to be seen as Highlanders FC were also previously mooted as a potential destination for the frontman.
