Koble Yao: "My dream is to one day play for AS Monaco"

Just days after making his move to SJK Seinäjoki in the Finnish top flight official, Koble Yao sat down exclusively with Foot-Africa. The 19-year-old defender is already setting his sights high as he embarks on this new chapter of his career.

The former player of Association Sportive du Port Autonome de Cotonou (ASPAC FC) doesn't hide his delight at joining the Finnish club:

It's a huge honor for me to sign with SJK Seinäjoki. This is a new step in my career, and I'm going to give everything I have to help the team achieve its goals and keep developing.

Now settling into life in Finland, Koble Yao says his transition has been smooth so far:

Adapting is going well. My teammates and the staff have welcomed me warmly. The league is different from Benin, but I'm learning every day and I'm happy to be here.

When asked about the player who inspires him the most, the left-back is quick to mention Nuno Mendes, the Portuguese international from Paris Saint-Germain. And when it comes to his long-term ambitions, the young defender already has his eyes on a major league.

I admire his speed, defensive qualities, attacking contributions, and football intelligence. I try to take inspiration from him every day to improve. My dream is to one day play for a big Ligue 1 club. I have a particular admiration for AS Monaco.

For now, the player who previously featured for ASPAC, Jeunesse Sportive de Ouidah, and Dynamo d'Abomey in Benin remains fully focused on his new challenge in Finland.

My goal is to establish myself in the team, help SJK reach its objectives, and keep progressing. I also want to gain valuable experience and show what I'm capable of.

At just 19 years old, Koble Yao is embarking on his first European adventure, determined to reach new heights and make his mark in Scandinavian football before, perhaps, one day joining the elite of French football.
