LaLiga: Real Madrid calls for president Javier Tebas to resign (Official)
Real Madrid's response to Javier Tebas did not take long. The Liga president had likened the methods of the Spanish capital club to those of the Nazi regime.
“This method recalls the mechanisms of propaganda used by Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda of Nazi Germany: systematic repetition, the construction of an enemy and the subordination of facts to the narrative,” Tebas wrote on X this Friday. A bold statement that was not going to go unanswered.
Real Madrid wants Tebas to resign immediately
Once again, the latest statement from the head of LaLiga has not been well received by Real Madrid. Los Merengues consider this latest attack unacceptable and are demanding Javier Tebas's immediate resignation from his positions as president of LaLiga and vice-president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
Real Madrid's statement:
"In response to the statements by Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga and vice-president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, in which he compares the methods used by Real Madrid's management to those used by Joseph Goebbels, Minister of Propaganda of the Nazi regime, and describes Real Madrid Television as an instrument of this alleged strategy, Real Madrid CF states the following:
Real Madrid CF considers it absolutely intolerable and extremely serious that a person holding two positions of responsibility within Spanish football could compare the club's propaganda methods to those of the Nazi regime in order to discredit it, as well as its management and television channel. The fact that he specifies that he is not referring to Nazi ideology in no way diminishes the deeply offensive, morally repugnant and unworthy nature of his remarks toward the institution.
These statements constitute another episode in Javier Tebas's repeated attacks against Real Madrid, its president and its media outlets. It is unacceptable for him to use questions, information or opinions from journalists outside the club to make disparaging remarks about us, attributing to us the actions of third parties for which we are in no way responsible.
It is particularly serious that Tebas is using these statements to question the legitimacy of Real Madrid's and Real Madrid Television's actions in the Negreira case.
In the face of the absence of any reaction, given the exceptional seriousness of this matter, from the two institutions in which Javier Tebas holds positions of great importance, our club was forced to approach UEFA directly to demand a thorough investigation into the payments made for years by FC Barcelona to the vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees, as well as the adoption of the necessary measures to guarantee the integrity of competitions.
Real Madrid is also demanding a complete overhaul of the refereeing system and the federation's governance, management, supervision and disciplinary structures, with the replacement of those who held positions of responsibility during this period.
It is particularly significant that Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga and vice-president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the organization to which the Technical Committee of Referees belongs, is working to discredit Real Madrid instead of promoting, within the scope of his institutional responsibilities, clarification of these very serious facts and the necessary overhaul of Spanish football.
Javier Tebas's repeated conduct demonstrates a lack of neutrality, respect and impartiality that is incompatible with his institutional responsibilities. His incessant attacks against Real Madrid and those calling for transparency and reform constitute, in our club's view, a genuine scourge on Spanish football.
For all these reasons, Real Madrid CF considers that Javier Tebas's repeated statements and conduct would be unacceptable in any European sports institution governed by the principles of respect, neutrality and integrity, and that they institutionally disqualify him from continuing to hold the positions he occupies.
Consequently, Real Madrid CF demands his immediate resignation from his positions as president of LaLiga and vice-president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
Real Madrid CF will continue to defend its rights, its institutional prestige, the full clarification of the Negreira case and the necessary regeneration of Spanish football."
