Latest update on Boitumelo Radiopane future at Orlando Pirates

Foot Africa understands that Orlando Pirates are currently not engaged in talks to part ways with striker Boitumelo Radiopane ahead of next season, contrary to reports.

The 24-year-old forward has been subject to an uncertain future with the Buccaneers, owing to his lack of game time under head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou last season.

He made five appearances across all competitions, chipping in with a solitary assist in the process, having featured for a total of 198 minutes on the field.

Radiopane was promoted to the first-team at the beginning of the 2021/22 season under Josef Zinnbauer after winning the Golden Boot in the Dstv Diski Challenge (DDC).

However, his progress has been hampered by persistent injuries as he played just 24 matches in the famous black and white shirt of Pirates since his promotion.

Notably, the player spent the 2022/23 and the 2023/24 campaigns on loan at Cape Town Spurs in search of ample game time and experience in the professional ranks.

Pirates, meanwhile, continued to beef up the frontline, which saw Radiopane drop down further in the pecking order, with Evidence Makgopa and Yanela Mbuthuma ahead.

While Radiopane is somewhat finding it hard to break into the starting XI, the Pirates hierarchy and the technical team retains faith in him, thanks to his potential.

Sources have confirmed there are no formal talks ongoing about a potential exit at this stage, with both parties keen to continue their working relationship beyond this season.

Having clinched the Betway Premiership title last term and now gunning for the coveted CAF Champions League, it remains to be seen whether Pirates will sign a striker.
