Lecce: Lameck Banda resurfaces

Expected back on July 12 to resume training with Lecce in Italy, Lameck Banda was nowhere to be found. Even worse, the Zambian international hadn’t given any sign of life for 15 days. But finally, some good news! This Thursday, Banda reappeared by posting a story on his Instagram account.

In recent days, Lecce had feared the worst for their forward. During the off-season, Lameck Banda was supposed to return to Zambia to get married before coming back on July 12, the official restart date for the Italian club. But the player never showed up.

Nine days into pre-season, Lecce released a statement explaining his absence: "US Lecce announces that the player, summoned for the resumption of sporting activities, informed the club today that the logistical and administrative problems that have so far prevented his return to Italy are ongoing […] The club will carry out the necessary checks regarding the circumstances cited by the player and reserves the right to take any appropriate action, including disciplinary measures, to ensure compliance with the contractual obligations of a contract running until June 30, 2027."

Lameck Banda alive on his Instagram story

This Thursday, the Zambian resurfaced by posting a story on his Instagram account. He can be seen working out in a gym. Banda had not posted anything since July 6, when he shared photos of himself and his partner aboard a boat.
