Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang isn’t wasting any time at Deportivo La Coruña. Having already found the net on his official debut against Elche, the Gabonese striker struck again this Monday against Málaga, opening the scoring in the 21st minute and confirming his stellar start in his new colors.

Aubameyang once again broke through for Deportivo. At 20 minutes and 51 seconds, the former Gabon international latched onto an assist from Luismi Cruz, coolly winning his one-on-one to give his side the lead on Málaga’s home turf.

With this second goal in as many matches, the 37-year-old already finds himself among the top scorers at the start of this La Liga season. It’s a particularly convincing debut for a striker who wasn’t signed as the marquee name of the transfer window.

Already 248 goals across Europe’s top five leagues

This latest strike also sees Aubameyang reach a symbolic milestone in Europe’s top five leagues. The Gabonese forward now boasts 248 goals combined in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, and Ligue 1.

He thus joins Luis Suárez, who also has 248 goals across these five leagues, and becomes the 25th top scorer in the history of this ranking. Just ahead is Francesco Totti in 24th place with 250 goals. Aubameyang is now just two goals away from climbing another spot in this prestigious list.

A low-key transfer, but an answer on the pitch

His move to Deportivo was carried out far from the usual fanfare that follows a player of his caliber. The Galician club spent around €1.5 million to secure his services, and the transfer hardly made a media splash.

Aubameyang, it seems, prefers to do his talking on the pitch. After scoring against Elche in his first official appearance, he immediately followed it up against Málaga. Two goals in two games, two performances that have already reminded everyone of the Gabonese striker’s high standards.

At 37, the striker is proving he hasn’t come to Spain just to wind down his career. With Deportivo, Aubameyang looks determined to keep making headlines where he always has: inside the penalty area and on the scoresheet.
