Ligue 1: Achraf Hakimi handed a suspension (official)
Achraf Hakimi has been suspended in Ligue 1 this Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the LFP disciplinary committee made a strong statement. Marseille (OM) has been sanctioned following incidents during the home match against RC Lens on January 24, which was marred by extensive use of pyrotechnics in the stands. The disturbances caused a delayed kickoff, accompanied by chants and expressions deemed inappropriate.
The South Stand of the Orange Vélodrome will be partially closed for one match, with an additional three matches under probation. The sanction takes immediate effect—a tough blow for OM, who will now have to play in front of a reduced crowd at their next home fixture.
On the sporting front, several players have also been suspended. In Ligue 1, Jean-Philippe Gbamin (Metz) will miss two matches, while Achraf Hakimi (PSG) has been handed a one-match ban plus one match suspended. Kamory Doumbia (Brest), Daniel Namaso (Auxerre), Aïssa Mandi and Nathan Ngoy (Lille) will also be sidelined for one match after accumulating too many bookings.
