Olivier Pantaloni, head coach of FC Lorient, has shed light on the behind-the-scenes story of signing Burkinabé international Arsène Kouassi, who has become a key figure in Lorient’s lineup and one of Ligue 1’s revelations this season.

With a stunning free-kick, Arsène Kouassi clinched victory for Lorient (2-1) over Nantes in the 20th round of Ligue 1. The Burkinabé left-back delivered yet another exceptional performance, as he has all season, capturing the attention of many observers.

During the press conference, Lorient’s coach was asked how the 20-year-old player ended up joining the "Merlus." Olivier Pantaloni, who previously coached Kouassi at Ajaccio, revealed some intriguing details.

I insisted to the president that he make an effort to sign him for us. He was a player I had been closely monitoring, and I knew he possessed tremendous potential. He showed great maturity on the pitch, tactical intelligence, and the ability to adapt quickly. I was convinced he would make significant progress.

Strong, skillful, quick, and tireless, Arsène continues to put on outstanding displays and is drawing the attention of Europe’s top clubs.
