Lille: Thomas Meunier draws comparison with Achraf Hakimi

While Achraf Hakimi is recovering, a comparison is being made with him in Lille.

Last night, Lille defeated OM in Ligue 1. After the 1-0 victory, Bruno Genesio made an unexpected comparison. The LOSC manager sees similarities between his right-back Thomas Meunier and Achraf Hakimi.

"I give him a lot of freedom because he’s a former forward and he has this ability to push forward, sometimes drifting completely out of position, which causes problems for the opposition, as long as there’s balance. He’s a player who repeats his efforts and is very comfortable technically. Do I look at PSG? Of course, I take inspiration from the best. Achraf Hakimi? He has the same profile. As a coach, you always try to watch what’s being done at the top level. You have to be inspired without copying because everyone has their own characteristics. But it’s true that Thomas’s profile is very similar to Hakimi’s," explained the northern coach on Ligue 1+.
