Linafoot qualifiers: AS Vita Club stages a comeback against Céleste FC to reach the podium
Despite trailing in the first half, AS Vita Club displayed true fighting spirit in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory over Céleste FC on Wednesday evening at Tata Raphaël Stadium.
After a goalless draw against TP Mazembe (0-0) in their previous clash, AS Vita Club returned to winning ways. The task was anything but easy for the "Moscovites," who conceded an early goal from "Chérubim Mbandaka" just before halftime. Bashali Mafouko opened the scoring in the 41st minute, handing Céleste FC a surprise 1-0 lead at the break.
The green-and-black revolution kicked off at the start of the second half, led by Platini Mbiyama Muzizi. The striker netted the equalizer in the 56th minute after a pinpoint assist from Djinio Iyosa, then quickly followed up with his second goal just six minutes later. In the dying moments of the match, Eliezer Chimanga Nyembwa added a third to seal the victory for his side.
This 3-1 win thrusts AS Vita Club firmly back into the race, lifting them to third place with 16 points from 9 matches, while Céleste FC slips to the bottom of the table with just one point and still searching for their first win at this stage of the qualifiers.
