Linafoot qualifiers: Congo Eagles reclaim the throne from Mazembe

The Congo Eagles are back to winning ways, reclaiming the top spot in the Linafoot qualifiers. At the Kurara Mpova Center on June 14, a single goal from Tony Talasi against Simba was all it took to secure an emphatic celebration for the champions.

Tony Talasi was the hero of this crucial win. The 20-year-old striker found the back of the net in the 60th minute.
This 1-0 victory over Simba put the Congo Eagles back on top of the qualifiers with 25 points, edging one point ahead of TP Mazembe, who stumbled with a 1-1 draw in the Lubumbashi derby against Saint Eloi Lupopo.

After their unbeaten streak was snapped by Mazembe in week 11, the Samurai are back to winning form and are charging toward the title with just two rounds left in the season. A second consecutive crown is within reach, but before that, the capital club has already secured their spot in African competitions for the 2026-2027 season.
