Lionel Messi could make his return to the Champions League just months before the 2026 World Cup.

Turkish giants Galatasaray could pull off an unexpected masterstroke in the Champions League in the coming weeks. The club is reportedly looking to bring in Lionel Messi for a four-month spell. According to Fomotac, the Istanbul side has approached the Argentine forward from Inter Miami for a short-term loan as soon as the winter transfer window opens. This move aims to strengthen their squad right in the middle of their European campaign.

Additionally, this would allow Messi to stay sharp and competitive ahead of the 2026 World Cup, as the Argentine superstar would have no official matches between the end of the MLS playoffs in December and the start of the new season in March.
