Liverpool: agreement reached with Andoni Iraola

Liverpool may have already found their new leading man. Just days after Arne Slot’s departure, Andoni Iraola is closing in on Anfield and now looks more than ever to be the front-runner to take charge of the Reds.

Liverpool wasted no time moving past the Arne Slot era. Only a few days after the Dutch tactician’s exit, the Reds’ management ramped up their search for a new leader capable of reviving a club eager for a rebound after a disappointing 2025-2026 season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Andoni Iraola is closing in on the Anfield dugout. Free since the end of his tenure at Bournemouth, the Spanish manager is said to have given his verbal agreement to the Merseyside club. His profile is unanimously praised internally, especially by sporting director Richard Hughes, who previously worked with him at the Cherries.

Having earned plaudits for his work in the Premier League and for guiding Bournemouth to their first-ever European qualification, Iraola stands out as the clear favorite to usher in a new era at Liverpool. While a few details still need to be ironed out, barring any last-minute surprises, the Basque tactician should soon be officially announced as Arne Slot’s successor.
