Liverpool: Carragher puzzled by Barcola choice as Salah's replacement

In a bid to fill the void left by Egyptian international Mohamed Salah, Liverpool are looking to secure the services of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola during this summer transfer window.

While he didn't question the talent of the French international, former Reds defender Jamie Carragher couldn't make sense of this move. In fact, Bradley Barcola plays on the left, whereas Liverpool are in dire need of a reinforcement on the right wing.

"Could he be Salah's successor? No, he plays on the other side! Liverpool currently have three players who can operate on the left: Rio (Ngumoha), (Cody) Gakpo and (Florian) Wirtz, but none who play on the right. (...) I just can't understand it, we desperately need a right winger," the Sky Sports pundit declared on social media platform X.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are still preparing their first move for Barcola. After getting the green light from the French striker for a summer transfer, the Reds are preparing an initial bid of €100 million plus bonuses, according to talkSPORT and reporter Ben Jacobs. The value of those bonuses remains to be seen, as Paris Saint-Germain are valuing their French international at €170 million.
