Liverpool are reportedly preparing a major offer for Bradley Barcola, but Jamie Carragher is questioning both the sporting and financial sense of such a move.

Liverpool have set their sights on Bradley Barcola and could table a bid of around £100 million, or €118 million. However, PSG are demanding up to €170 million for their forward, whose contract runs until 2028. The Frenchman has apparently made Liverpool his top priority should he leave.

Jamie Carragher, however, doubts the logic of this target. "No, he plays on the opposite wing!" he told Sky Sports.

"Liverpool currently have three players who can operate on the left—Rio Ngumoha, Cody Gakpo, and Florian Wirtz—but no one for the right wing. I'm not convinced by this option. They absolutely need a right winger!"

Is his finishing worth €170 million?

The issue goes beyond mere positioning. Last season, Bradley Barcola scored 11 goals in 29 Ligue 1 matches, but only twice in the Champions League. In European competition, his conversion rate stood at just 8%, with ten big chances missed.

At 23, his pace and movement are a perfect fit for the intensity of the Premier League. However, spending nearly €170 million on a left winger—when Liverpool already have several options for that position—would be a costly gamble. To replace Salah directly, a more natural right-sided player who is more clinical in front of goal would clearly be the priority.
