Liverpool: Major administrative changes within the club!

Liverpool are preparing to overhaul the club's management structure ahead of the winter transfer window, with serious consideration being given to bringing Julian Ward back as sporting director.

Administrative changes at Liverpool

According to authoritative Sky Sports insider Lyall Thomas, the Merseyside club's hierarchy, alongside FSG executives, are simultaneously exploring a scenario in which a specialist would be appointed as co-sporting or technical director, with Brentford's technical director Lee Dykes emerging as one of the leading candidates for the role.

The push to find a new head of the transfer department gained urgency following Richard Hughes' decision to leave the club at the beginning of September. Ward is no stranger to Anfield, having previously enjoyed a successful spell as Liverpool's sporting director during the 2022/23 season, after which he oversaw technical matters within the team's ownership structure. Dykes, for his part, has caught Liverpool's attention through his outstanding work at Brentford, where he constructed one of the most effective scouting analytics systems in European football.

The Merseyside club are expected to finalize the new management structure in the coming weeks, a move that would allow them to prepare the team's transfer plans well in advance and in line with the requirements set out by Andoni Iraola's coaching staff for the January window.
