Liverpool wants to sign Alejandro; Iraola is the one who requested the player!
Press reports indicate that Liverpool is keenly interested in signing star Alejandro Balde, at the personal request of the Reds' new manager, Andoni Iraola.
Manchester United was the first club interested in signing the Spanish star, but after their interest cooled, it appears Liverpool would be the lucky club should they submit a formal bid.
Liverpool has a major need to strengthen this position
Liverpool currently has both Milos Kerkez and Konstantinos Tsimikas at left-back. However, Kerkez has not delivered a convincing performance since arriving from Bournemouth in the summer of 2025, and with Tsimikas serving as the backup, Liverpool needs to strengthen this position.
Liverpool's start to the new campaign has been far from impressive, and as a result, both the playing squad and the recently appointed manager Iraola—who took charge during the summer—are now facing increased examination.
Spanish outlet Sport has indicated that the Merseyside club has identified Barcelona's left-back Balde as a target for a mid-season transfer.
The Catalan-focused publication claims that the reigning Spanish champions would be willing to part with the left-back for a fee in the region of €40million, which equates to approximately £34.2m.
It is also mentioned that Manchester United had shown interest in the 22-year-old Spain international during the summer window.
