Paris Saint-Germain could attempt a major move in the transfer market. According to Catalan outlet ElNacional.cat, Luis Enrique would like to sign William Saliba, Arsenal’s French centre-back. The deal could reach €90 million.

Saliba, an indispensable figure at Arsenal

At 25, William Saliba has established himself as one of the pillars of the Gunners’ defence since returning from loan in the summer of 2022. Developed in particular at AS Saint-Étienne, the French defender joined Arsenal in 2019 before continuing his development through several loan spells. His performances have contributed to Arsenal’s results, and the club intends to keep a player who is under contract until 2030.

According to ElNacional.cat, Luis Enrique particularly appreciates Saliba’s profile and would like to convince the Parisian club’s management to take action. The defender possesses qualities sought at the highest level: strength in duels, technical ability and the capacity to defend well outside his own penalty area. These characteristics could match the demands of the style of play favoured by the Spanish coach. PSG would be prepared to consider a €90 million offer.

A deal that looks complicated

For Paris, signing Saliba would represent a major investment to strengthen its defensive department. However, Arsenal retains control of the situation thanks to the length of the Frenchman’s contract and his importance within the squad.

For now, this is an interest reported by the press rather than an imminent transfer. What happens next will depend in particular on Arsenal’s willingness to negotiate and PSG’s ability to turn this interest into action.
