Major blow for Metz: Senegalese wonderkid Amara Diouf on his way to Fenerbahçe!
While all predictions pointed to his transfer to FC Metz, Senegal's young prodigy Amara Diouf, a left winger trained at Génération Foot, now appears set to head to Turkey to join Fenerbahçe, where 'The Special One', José Mourinho, awaits him.
Despite every sign suggesting his imminent arrival at the Lorraine club, the official partner of the academy, Fenerbahçe's enticing offer has turned the tables.
A legal loophole paves the way for Amara Diouf's move to Fenerbahçe!
According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Amara Diouf has reached an agreement with the Turkish club to join them. The arrival of José Mourinho at the helm played a decisive role: the Portuguese tactician gave the green light for the signing after being impressed by the young star's qualities.
Fenerbahçe has offered an estimated annual salary of €1.5 million, a deal hard to turn down for a talent of this age. This package, combined with Mourinho's prestige, allowed the Istanbul club to outpace rivals such as FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Juventus, and of course Metz.
This transfer became possible thanks to a legal loophole regarding Amara Diouf's contract. Initially tied to the Senegalese academy until 2028, a dispute led to the contract being shortened to June 2025, in accordance with FIFA regulations that limit professional contracts for minors to three years.
This change put the player in a position to leave freely, outside the framework of the partnership between Génération Foot and FC Metz.
