Mali: Soumaïla Coulibaly returns to lead the U17s

The Malian Football Federation has officially announced the return of Soumaïla Coulibaly. He takes the helm of the U17 squad qualified for the 2026 World Cup.

The Femafoot Executive Committee has confirmed the appointment of Soumaïla Coulibaly as the national U17 head coach. He will be assisted by Abdrahamane Maïga. Both coaches hold a CAF A License.

The new coach is no stranger to the setup. Captain of the Mali Eagles in the 2000s, he previously led the Aiglonnets during the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, where Mali finished fourth. A few months later, at the World Cup in Indonesia under his guidance, Mali claimed the bronze medal with a dominant 3-0 win over Argentina in the third-place playoff.

With this return, Femafoot is betting on continuity and experience as they prepare for the World Cup in Qatar with high ambitions.
