Mamelodi Sundowns in talks to terminate Miguel Reisinho contract
Exclusive
Foot Africa has established that Mamelodi Sundowns are in talks with Miguel Reisinho over the termination of his contract ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Portuguese midfielder signed for the Brazilians on a free transfer at the beginning of last season, alongside compatriot Nuno Santos, who was lured from Vitoria Guimaraes.
Reisinho put pen to paper on a two-year deal with an option to extend his stay at Chloorkop by a further 12 months, in what was a market opportunity for Sundowns.
He made 14 appearances with two goals and a solitary assist in his debut season, despite Miguel Cardoso's side featuring in 50 games across all competitions.
Now, sources have told this publication that Reisinho is unhappy with his lack of game time since his arrival at Sundowns, contrary to Santos who has emerged as a key figure.
The 27-year-old utility player is understood to be keen on severing ties with the newly crowned African champions as he looks to leave South Africa after just one season.
Sundowns are equally open to facilitating an exit via mutual agreement, which will free up a spot in their foreign quota with the club expected to reinforce the squad.
This website understands that discussions between the two parties are progressing, and there's a growing optimism that a total agreement on exit terms will be reached.
Reisinho is believed to have already attracted interest from a host of teams in his native Portugal, where he spent his entire career before moving to Africa.
The former Portugal youth international won the coveted CAF Champions League title with Sundowns, despite not featuring in the knockout stages of the competition.
