Mamelodi Sundowns Thapelo Maseko is officially going on sale before the end of the summer market!

Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly reached an agreement to transfer Thapelo Maseko to Danish outfit FC Copenhagen.

The 22-year-old winger had slipped down the pecking order at Masandawana, but he managed to reignite his career during a loan stint with AEL Limassol in Cyprus last season. His strong performances there also earned him a return to the national team setup, and he went on to feature in several fixtures during the FIFA World Cup. A standout highlight came when he netted the decisive goal in Bafana Bafana's 1-0 win over South Korea, a result that secured the side's first-ever passage to the knockout rounds.

Following the global tournament, Maseko attracted interest from a number of clubs across Europe and North Africa, though it was understood that Sundowns were unwilling to sanction a move to any rival South African side.

What is the value of the deal?

On Wednesday, iDiski Times reported that the Brazilians had struck a R28 million deal with Copenhagen for the player's services. Should the transfer go through, Maseko will follow in the footsteps of Sibusiso Zuma, who enjoyed a memorable spell with the Danish club in the early 2000s and went on to achieve legendary status there.

Maseko originally joined Sundowns from SuperSport United, but he found first-team opportunities hard to come by at Chloorkop, with injuries also hampering his progress. Eventually sent out on loan last term, the pacey wide man rebuilt his form in Cyprus and now looks poised to embark on a fresh European adventure with Copenhagen, following a €1.5 million agreement with the Premier Soccer League giants.
